Piano Groups....
…address the inquisitive musical curiosity of the 5-7 year old child. Each group is composed of a maximum of four children. Group lessons are attended for 60 minutes each week for 20 weeks.
Each child has hands-on piano time from the very first class on one of three pianos in the Music Room. Children begin to learn the language of music; i.e., listening, steady beat, echoing and exploring rhythms thru the use of rhythm/ percussion instruments, movement, songs and games, finger numbers, what music notes
look like, the music alphabet, up and down, high and low,
identifying names of piano keys, etc. Children are taught short
pieces to play on the piano which are cute, clever, and catchy.
Piano Groups....
also lay the foundation for all music and provide the basics required for students to play any instrument in the future. Students benefit from these experiences long before being introduced to notation and staff reading. But most of all, it’s just plain fun!
Designed to introduce young children (ages 5-7 years of age) to the elements of music while learning about the unique qualities of the piano, this class is a creative bridge to the reading of music notation with music meaning. The child's natural curiosity about music is stimulated through various class activities that include moving, singing, creating, listening, and playingkeyboard and rhythm instruments.
